Overall the research blog was very intriging and eye opening. It was very hard though to figure out and get information about everything I had to research. I was not into the reseach blog for the most part, everything that i researched did all not come together for me to write my last essay. Most of the terms that I learned throughout class took me awhile to understand the terms and very uneasy to remember.
I think I wasnt sure what I was getting into at first when I began the class. Overall it was a good learning expierence and learned alot. The one thing I disliked was the reading blogs. Subcultures was my favorite part of the class

"Tourists"- Younger people who want to explore the world, and people with money who can afford to travel alot.
"Vagabonds" - Senior citizens, and those who do not want to let things go for example, hoarders.
Tourists and vagabonds exist in the opposite worlds of each other, for example tourists exist in the third world because they are more outgoing and what to explore the outside world, they just have a better sense of what its like to be out of the shell. Which for example elderly people live in a first world, they do not want to change anything of what they been taught or the views they have lived by for such a long time. Hoarders are the same way, they like to keep everything compact in a space so they cannot let go of anything and they believe that getting rid of things is a bad idea and they cannot adapt new things like cars, tvs, food, etc.
Race and gender mobility play affects by the domination, more men than women are in politics around the world. And Race is becoming more of a change with different races becoming political powers in todays world. For example President Obama is the first African American President in the United States.

Reading Blog 9
After reading the chapter the ideas that are mentioned do link to some things I have experienced already. For instance the chapter talks about the word "brands". I work for the cell phone company T-Mobile, and ever since I have worked there I was always told to make the name of the company become apart of your life. When I first began working there T-Mobile was gradually becoming a better company and was slowly making a name for themselves, and after over a year of working for them the company has made a huge jump in advertising and making the service ten times better than what it use to be. No other company has better brand then we do. We promote our products and services better than anyone else out there. Its efficient to make sure that the "brand" is recognized by everyone.
Another topic from the chapter is stereotypes. I work at the Westfield mall and the one thing that has been a huge topic for months that still occurs in the mall is stereotyping. Ever since the big fights and riots that broke out back in February the news and even local people made strong comments about people and made many comments and stereotyped as well. Saying that kids were the reason for starting everything, younger than 15. I was there when it happened and it was people of all ages that were involved. Its just wrong for those who made those comments to stereotype people which they weren't even at the scene and just assumed who was to blame for everything.

Research Blog 12
After viewing the website gamespot.com as a subculture, ive come to a conclusion that it really is not associated as subculture. The website is more of an advertisement for companies and products that are listed on the site. They just put blogs on their to give the site a look as if it really makes a focal point to gamers. It is a corporate website that has a lot of detailed advertising, and this just gives away the subculture look to it. The site is not created by anyone nor is it unique in its own way. The site is corporately owned, which makes me believe that this site is not really close to being a subculture. I could think of better websites that can make a good place for gamers to blog and have control over website.

The difference between a counter culture and subculture is describe in this way. A counter culture can be describe as an era or time of something that people were apart of, for example the 1960's and 1970's is a counterculture. There were many hippies, rock bands, and influential music that occurred during this time and it formed a counter culture with everyone. A subculture is a group or organization that is formed such as gamers, fantasy football leagues, and sometimes politics. A subculture is for everyone to join a certain club or group, everyone gets involved and has input i everything.
